Six Wins, One Trophy: USVI Women Win the Inaugural One Caribbean Invitational

The USVI Women's National Softball Team went to Nassau, Bahamas, for the inaugural One Caribbean Invitational Women's Fast-Pitch Softball Tournament and came home with the trophy. They won all six games.
The tournament ran October 5–8 and featured three Bahamian clubs (the Sunshine Auto Wildcats, Bommer G. Operators and University of the Bahamas Mingoes), two from Jamaica (the Jamaica Warrior Queens and Jamaica Club Fusion), and the Virgin Islands.
The USVI opened with a 10–0 win over the Mingoes, with Taylor White collecting two hits and two RBIs. A 10 p.m. start against the Jamaica Warrior Queens didn't slow them down: they won 18–2 on 14 hits. Tyannah Lake and Kennedi Gaton each had three hits and three RBIs, and Roniece Pharaoh added two hits and three RBIs.
The offense stayed hot against Jamaica Club Fusion, scoring 17 runs on 10 hits. White had three hits and three RBIs, NaJah Gerrald drove in three and Shania Thomas drove in two. The Sunshine Auto Wildcats gave the Virgin Islands their toughest game of the tournament, but the USVI won 7–4. They then beat the Bommer Operators 11–1, with USVI pitching allowing just one hit.
The final was a rematch with Bommer, and the Virgin Islands controlled it. Dontaysha Gobourne struck out 11 in a 9–0 shutout and was named Championship MVP. Kenya Pereira was named the tournament's Top Pitcher.
It was a statement for the women's program, and it made the USVI the event's first champion.
