Dontaysha Gobourne Strikes Out 11 in Title-Game Shutout, Named Championship MVP

When the title was on the line in Nassau, the ball went to Dontaysha Gobourne.
In the championship game of the inaugural One Caribbean Invitational Women's Fast-Pitch Softball Tournament, Gobourne struck out 11 Bommer G. Operators batters in a 9–0 shutout that gave the USVI Women's National Team the title. She was named Championship MVP.
It was the second time that weekend the Virgin Islands had beaten Bommer. Earlier in the tournament, USVI pitching held the Bahamian club to one hit in an 11–1 win. In the final, Gobourne made sure there would be no comeback.
She wasn't the only USVI pitcher honored. Kenya Pereira was named the tournament's Top Pitcher, recognition for a pitching staff that carried the Virgin Islands through six straight wins.
Together they gave the Virgin Islands an unbeaten tournament and a trophy to bring home from the first One Caribbean Invitational.
